Tourmaline Carvings
In 1972, an immense pocket of superb tourmaline was uncovered in Maine, Dunton Quarry Mine, Newry Hill, USA. These high-quality crystals ranged in color from beautiful greens and rich pinks to piercing blues. From this material, master gem carver Gerhard Becker of Idar-Oberstein, Germany, created a series of miniature carvings of birds, mammals, and fish native to North America. This series of pieces is a gift of John Staver.

Emerald Description
Emerald is the green to greenish blue variety of beryl, a mineral species that also includes aquamarine as well as beryls in other colors.
Citrine History and Lore
Natural citrine is rare, and today most citrine quartz is the result of heat treatment of amethyst quartz. Even so, gems from the Victorian era have surfaced, and it’s not hard to imagine that citrine was treasured even in earlier times.
