Mr. Hughes is the cofounder of Lotus Gemology in Bangkok, a laboratory devoted to testing ruby, sapphire, and spinel. He is also the author of Ruby & Sapphire (1997) and more than 150 articles on various aspects of gemology. Many of his writings can be found at www.lotusgemology.com and www.ruby-sapphire.com. His latest book is Ruby & Sapphire: A Collector’s Guide (2014).
